Raised in a small town in Alabama, Ashla Taylor's roots run deep from a conservative upbringing where her father was an evangelist, yet her mother groomed her for the stage lights in theater. It was in the church where Ashla developed a love for music and in the theater where she sharpened her natural ability to light up a stage.
Both of Taylor's grandmothers - one a writer/thespian and the other a rebel country singer who burned up the honky-tonk circuit in the 1970s - were introducing her to artists like Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin, The Eagles, Journey, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks and Shania Twain. By the time she was a teenager, she had secretly collected and studied a variety of pop, country and classic rock albums
that had to be hidden from her disapproving parents.
Ashla first started writing music for her father's tent revivals, while secretly chronicling her personal experiences growing up- only sharing them with her grandmother. While Ashla was performing with her band in churches all over the southeast, she was also modeling
and acting in local plays, movies, & commercials.
Most of her college days were spent sneaking out at night to local bars to play songs she had written. After a couple years of working in corporate America post college, Taylor made the decision to expose her free-spirited music and break away from the restrictions of her upbringing and aim for Music City.
She landed in Nashville full of unbridled energy
and a style all her own that is shaking up the industry.
Ashla co-wrote her Country Debut EP “Truth Is…” alongside artist/songwriter, Sherrie Austin and songwriter, Will Rambeaux. The first release, “Nothin’ About Love” charted Top 30 on the Music Row Chart. Ashla soon thereafter landed the role of a lifetime, playing her idol, “Shania Twain” in the DocuDrama series, “The Price of Fame”
where she gave a record breaking performance as the pop/country queen and received rave reviews.
It was only a matter of time before Ashla’s unique triple threat talent caught the attention of veteran music executive and hit producer, Ron Fair. Their collaboration sparked a new flame in Nashville; with a collection of ear popping, head turning, fresh, and fun songs that are Ashla’s personality in musical arrangement. “Ron’s success in the industry is astounding. He’s produced/mentored some of my favorite acts that shaped me as an artist; and it’s a true honor to be a part of his repertoire.” says Ashla.
Ashla Taylor is set to reveal her anthemic,
fun and confidence driven music to the format.
Much like her influences, her sound and presence is vibrant, and entertaining. Ashla is a force of entertainment, you can’t not love.
